7 Tips For Curly Hair Care
Do you have curly hair? If so, then you are well aware of how challenging curly hair can be to maintain. One day it’s too frizzy, the next day it’s too knotted, and how in the world are you supposed to tame that wild mane before you go out in public?
What a lot of people don’t realize is that curly hair requires special methods of maintenance in order to stay healthy, and beautiful. Today the Dolce Vita Salon team is going to share with you, 7 tips for keeping that curly hair of yours in perfect condition.
Tame That Curly Mane
With these tips in mind, you will be able to maintain perfect curls, every day!
1. No More Brushes
Curly hair should never be brushed. This will cause a lot of unnecessary damage to your fragile curls. The best way to keep your curls from knotting up is to use DevaCurl One Conditioner or No-Comb Detangling Spray, and comb through your curls with your fingers while it’s still wet.
2. Keep it Natural
If you prefer to use styling gels and other products, it is vital that you check the ingredients. Those with silicone and alcohol can cause major damage and can remain in your hair for much longer than you think (2-3 days).
3. Be Mindful
Your curls can be fractured and disfigured when treated too roughly. If you carry a purse or a backpack make sure you brush your hair off of your shoulders before putting on these items. Same goes for a car seat-belt, guitar strap, and the like.
4. Give Your Roots Some Volume
Giving your hair volume doesn’t have to mean layering in the hairspray, teasing, etc. If you want the hair on the top of your head to be a little more voluminous, simply lift and clip your hair at the roots while it is still wet. We recommend deva clips. they are designed for curly hair.
5. Start From the Bottom
You should always cleanse your hair from the bottom up. Same goes for rinsing. Rinse the ends of your hair first and then work your way up to the top of your head.
6. Dry With a Diffuser
Drying your hair with a regular blow dryer will leave you with a frizzy mess, as the heat is unevenly distributed. A hair diffuser is a much better option as the heat will be evenly distributed and your curls will not be damaged.
7. Wet hair is most important part of starting good curls (our #1 tip)
Did you know the coarse texture of a terrycloth towel promotes frizz for your curly hair? Also, touching hair with your hands while wet will cause hair to frizz. Use a micro fiber devatowel or devagloves to ensure you get perfect frizz-free curls. After hair is completely dry, you can break up gel or other products by scrunching your hair to soften look. This is a life changer 🙂
